Lost Construction White Card
How to Replace a Lost White Card
Lost your White Card? It happens — wallets go missing, cards get left on site, or they simply wear out over time. The good news is that your White Card is registered in a national or state database, which means in most cases you can get a replacement without redoing the course.
The exact process depends on which state you were working in when you completed your training. Use the guide below to find out what to do.
Does a White Card Expire?
No — a White Card does not expire. Your Construction White Card (based on CPCCWHS1001 — Work Safely in the Construction Industry) is valid for life once issued. You never need to renew it.
If someone tells you your White Card has expired, they are incorrect. The only exception is if your card was issued before the national unit CPCCWHS1001 was introduced — in that case your state authority can advise you on whether your older card is still accepted.
Is My White Card Valid in All States?
Yes — a nationally recognised White Card is accepted in all Australian states and territories. If your card was issued under CPCCWHS1001, it is valid everywhere in Australia. You do not need to redo the course when you move states.
How to Replace Your Lost White Card — By State
NSW — Lost White Card Replacement
In NSW, every White Card is registered with SafeWork NSW. If you lose your NSW White Card:
- Visit Service NSW online or at a Service NSW Centre
- You will need proof of identity (100 points)
- A replacement fee applies (check the current fee at service.nsw.gov.au)
- Your replacement card will arrive by mail
If you originally completed your White Card with another RTO (not in NSW), your card may not be on the NSW register. In that case, contact the original RTO for a replacement letter or card.
Want a new NSW White Card? If you need to complete the course for the first time, we offer NSW White Card training from $120 via face-to-face or Zoom.
Queensland — Lost White Card Replacement
Queensland does not have a centralised White Card register for all RTOs. To replace your lost QLD White Card:
- Contact the RTO that originally issued your card and request a replacement
- If you cannot remember who issued your card, contact WorkSafe Queensland for advice
- In some cases, you may need to retake the course if your original RTO cannot verify your records
Your White Card should include the issuing RTO name. Check old payslips, induction records, or emails from the time you completed the course to identify your provider.

- Contact the RTO that originally issued your WA White Card

Tips for Replacing a Lost White Card
- Check your email — if you completed an online course, you likely received a confirmation and certificate by email. This can serve as proof of completion while you wait for your replacement card.
- Check your wallet carefully — White Cards are wallet-sized and sometimes end up behind other cards or slips through a lining.
- Ask your employer — many employers keep copies of induction records. Your HR team may have a scanned copy of your card on file.
- Note your RTO name — when you get your replacement, photograph the card and note the issuing RTO. Store this information somewhere you can find it if you need it again.
Need to Complete a New White Card?
